Most trans women are killed by their intimate partners. Most sexual assault comes from the people closest to you, not from total strangers. The security measures you need to take to protect you from your partner are very different than those to take to keep you safe from the police, a stalker, trolls, trans exclusionary radical feminists (TERFs), your university or the NSA. Make a clear decision about who you need to be safe from and act on that decision. For example, updating your phone passcode, changing your passwords, and tightening your social media privacy settings is good for your privacy from your partner, but won’t protect you from the border patrol or the NSA.
